Donald Trump is notorious in his anti-worker, anti-immigration, anti-black, and anti-women stances which have made him the frontrunner for the Republican nominee in the 2016 Presidential election. Workers, immigrants, women’s rights supporter, racial justice organizers, and allies will show up to let Donald Trump know that his hatred is NOT welcome in Columbus, Ohio.
Donald Trump is anti-worker
Trump is on record as opposing any increase to the federal minimum wage. He actually feels that “Having a low minimum wage in this country is not a bad thing.” and that “Wages are too high.”
Say that to the 16% of Ohioans and 33.6% of black Ohioans that in poverty, living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling everyday to make ends meet. There has not been a federal increase to the minimum wage since 2009 and Ohio’s state-wide minimum wage stands at $8.10 which is nowhere near enough to support Ohio families.
Donald Trump is anti-immigrant
Trump has been most vocal about his bigotry towards our immigrant brothers and sisters. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”
Trump simply lacks humanity when it comes to the 12 million undocumented immigrants in the USA who come seeking a better life for their families. He wants them ALL deported and proposes a (bigger) border wall to be built which he wants Mexico to pay for…
Trump's lack of empathy toward the plight of migrants extends to the current crisis in the Middle East and Syrian refugees escaping from terrorism. He said of Syrian refugees that "I am putting the people on notice that are coming here from Syria as part of this mass migration, that if I win, if I win, they are going back, they are going back. I am telling you, they are going back,"
Donald Trump is anti-black
Trump has gone on record against the #BlackLivesMatter movement for racial justice and an end to police brutality and murder in our country. He has said of the BlackLivesMatter movement that “I think they’re trouble. I think they’re looking for trouble….It’s ‘All Lives Matter’ and that should be the theme of our country.”
Trump has the audacity to visit Ohio with this message on the 1 year anniversary of the murder of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was shot by police at a park in Cleveland for playing with a toy gun.
Donald Trump is anti-women
Trump clearly does not feel women’s health is an important issue. He has gone on record defaming Planned Parenthood and the multitude of services they provide for women. “The problem that I have with Planned Parenthood is the abortion situation. It is like an abortion factory, frankly."
At a time when the state of Ohio is moving forward with completely defunding Planned Parenthood and stripping women of much needed health services, Trump is amplifying the anti-women agenda.
It is in response to the sheer ignorance and bigotry surrounding Trump that we stand together and say “Donald Trump: Hatred is not welcome in Columbus!”. Stay up-to-date on developments by following the COWC on Facebook and Twitter.
